Towns

Most towns in Iceland are located on the coast and fisheries are an important part of their local economy. A few towns are in agricultural regions, providing services to the surrounding area. Only the Reykjavik capital area municipalities and Akureyri have a population above 10,000.

A large marker indicates a town with a population of 1,000 or more.

A small marker indicates a town of less than 1,000 inhabitants.
